Luanda, Angola – Plasfer, a company that has been developing an innovative project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) for over three years, is now implementing a groundbreaking logistics route linking the African nation to Latin America. By leveraging Angola’s infrastructure as a strategic hub, this initiative marks a major milestone in global trade, creating a commercial flow that previously did not exist. Strengthening strategic partnerships with companies in Angola, the DRC, and Brazil, the primary goal of this venture is to export copper cathodes to serve industries across Latin America and Brazil.
However, Plasfer’s vision extends beyond merely exporting raw materials. A second phase of the project is already in the works, focusing on industrializing copper in Angola before its export, thereby adding significant value to the resource.
Industrialization and Economic Benefits for Angola
With the increasing global demand for copper, Plasfer aims to position Angola as a key production center for copper rod destined for the European market. This strategy involves processing copper cathodes from the DRC within Angola, increasing the product’s value and driving industrial growth within the country.
To achieve this, Plasfer has identified over 40 electrical cable manufacturers in Europe that have expressed strong interest in sourcing transformed copper products from Angola. The production will include:
- 8mm Copper Rod
- Drawn Wire (thinner wires used in electrical and electronic industries)
This model not only strengthens Angola’s national industry but also creates jobs, develops local skilled labor, and fosters economic expansion. The initiative is set to establish Angola as a key supplier of refined copper to both Europe and Latin America, further solidifying its role in the global market.
A Strategic Trade Route
Angola was strategically chosen as the base for this logistics network due to its well-established port infrastructure and prime geographic location, enabling seamless connections between Central Africa and Latin American markets. This innovative export corridor enhances trade relations across continents while also opening doors for Angolan companies seeking international expansion.
Plasfer’s Commitment to a Sustainable Future
Plasfer’s project goes beyond commerce—it is a long-term commitment to sustainable growth and industrialization in Angola. By transforming the country into a hub for processed copper production and export, the company is fostering local wealth creation, reducing dependence on raw material exports, and strengthening the national economy.
Through this initiative, Plasfer reaffirms its role as a trailblazer in unlocking new industrial opportunities for Angola, bringing innovation, investment, and long-term development to the region.
